Choir -Music is an integral part of our worship. Our Choir is part of the 10:30 service and practices Thursday evenings at 7:30. Elaine Bailey is our cheerful and welcoming choir leader.
Organist – St. James` has a wonderful Casavant Pipe Organ. We have recently completed phase one of an extensive (and expensive) organ restoration project. There is still a considerable amount to do, to bring the organ back into prime condition. Carolyn Shaub lovingly plays this grand old instrument and also accompanies singing with piano.
The Youth Band – this is a group of young (and not-so-young) musicians who occasionally lead more contemporary worship music in our 10:30 services. This group is led by Carolyn Schaub and David Barton
Readers -publically read from the scriptures during our worship times. They are coordinated by Nancy Mohan. nmohan@kingston.net
Greeters -welcome worshippers at the door, offer people bulletins, and collect the offering. Chris Hall coordinated the greeters. chall_ramesses@hotmail.com
Intercessors -lead the prayers of the people during the 10:30 services.
Chalice Bearers -serve wine at communion.
Lay Readers - assist in the leading of liturgies, read from the gospel and may serve wine or bread. Some also may take reserved communion to shut-ins and may offer private prayers after the services.
The Altar Guild -prepares and maintains the vessels and linens for our Eucharists and other worship events. We usually meet twice a year over a pot-luck meal. The guild is led by Glenda Bauder.
Sound Ministry –We have recently acquired an excellent new Bose sound system. It can be wirelessly tied into individual hearing assist devices for those who need them. The system is controlled through a sound board at the back of the church building. Lay volunteers oversee this important ministry. Will Pickett gives leadership here will.pickett@queensu.ca.
The Worship Committee –this committee, along with the Rector plans the worship events at St.James`. They usually meet on Saturday mornings at 9:15 about 6 times a year.
