Youth Group

During the sermon time of the 10:30 services, youth gather to discuss faith issues.  They usually meet in Val’s office.  Our High School youth group (grades 8-12) meet most Sunday mornings in the Val’s office and our Junior High youth group (grades 4 – 7) meets in the comfy back alcove of the parish hall for Bible study and a chance to hang out and get to know each other, our leaders and deepen our relationship with God.  Some Sunday mornings our youth are encouraged to get involved with the morning worship service by doing things like reading, helping in the Sunday School or nursery, running the sound board, serving communion, helping with coffee hour, participating in the music ministry, etc.  It is great to have our youth involved in this way!

Each Sunday morning, we have lively bible discussions each week, led by our committed youth team.  Our leaders include our 5 interns who are students at Queen’s – Elisabeth Chin (4th year history); Marie McKerron (4th year philosophy); Carolyn Carkner (4th year chemistry); Jason Booy (3rd year medicine) and Jaclyn Stephenson (2nd year education).  The team is led by Rev Val (associate priest at St. James’) and has many other adult leaders as well.  Each month, both groups have a large group event – this might be canoeing, climbing, serving a meal at a soup kitchen, doing a service project around the community, going to the Wolfe Island Cornmaze or having a sleepover at the church.

Upcoming events will be posted on the website, and around the church.
